  1. Can counselling solve my problems?
    Counselling will surely empower you to solve your own problems. Counselling doesn’t involve ready-made solutions to your problems. A counsellor may help you to see the problem with a different perspective so that you can solve it by yourself.
  2. Is counsellor a doctor?
    A counsellor can be a psychologist or social worker. He/she is not a doctor who prescribes medicines.
  3. Why should I go to a counsellor if I don’t have any mental problem?
    Counselling is not for mental problems only. Requiring counselling simply means you are perhaps in a situation, which may be an external or internal situation, where you are confused and disturbed and you need help to work with that situation. This is quite normal for each one of us.
  4. Can counselling help me to stabilize my relationship?
    Sure. With the help of a counsellor you can work on your relationship issues and stabilize your relationship.
  5. What are an interest and aptitude?
    What’s the importance of interest and aptitude to choose a career Interest is your liking of the subject or field, whereas aptitude is your special ability. Getting success and satisfaction in the job is very important. Aptitude and interest help you in this.
  6. Can I live a stress free life after counselling?
    Stress is the by product of development. One cannot live a stress free life, but one can learn to manage stress and live a happy and healthy life.
  7. What is the importance of time-management for a housewife?
    A housewife is the one who does all kinds of work, but is always neglected. After doing time-management she can definitely find some extra time to develop her constructive hobbies and enrich herself.
  8. I was a brilliant student, why doesn’t my child perform better in school?
    Your child is not your clone. He/ she have a different personality, aptitude and intelligence. Reasons for not performing well at schools include the followings:
    1. Lack of motivation and interest.
    2. Can be a slow learner
    3. Can be facing learning disabilities such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia or ADHD.

    The signs of learning disabilities vary from person to person. The most common signs include
    1. Difficulty with reading and/or writing and doing maths
    2. Difficulty remembering, paying attention and following directions
    3. Poor coordination
    4. Difficulty with time related concepts.

  10. My two years old child throws tantrums, what can I do?
    As a parent handling tantrums are stressful and frustrating. A 2 year old child throws tantrums because; he is unable to convey his feelings. The advice is to stay calm, take a time out, try to distract him to some other situation, and try to understand his frustration. The same doesn’t apply if the child is older.
  11. Is it okay if a child watches TV?
    Television can be a tool of education and entertainment. TV watching is perfectly okay. Keep an eye on what they watch and how long they watch.

  14. Can I improve my memory?
    Memory can be surely improved. There are some techniques through which we can improve our attention span, understanding of the subject and memory can be improved. With the help of mnemonics we can store information in a better way to improve retrieval.
  15. Should I punish my child?
    Punishment is a tool of shaping your child’s behaviour. We all need to punish children some day or other. However, excessive use of punishment has negative impacts on children. Similarly, corporal punishment should be avoided.
  16. Is it okay if I get angry over my child?
    Being a parent doesn’t mean that you are God. You have right to get angry, not only for your child, but also for everybody in the world. So, it’s perfectly okay if you get angry. The advice is to don’t harm anyone because of anger.
  17. Sometimes I think I might destroy everything just because of my anger, can I control it?
    Getting angry is the sign of a healthy mind. However, this doesn’t justify destroying things because of anger. There are many anger management techniques which can help you to control anger and express it in a constructive way.
  18. How much time should study? What is the ideal time for study?
    The ideal time for study is the time you are comfortable in. How much time you spent on it is totally up to you. After all, what you have studied matters more than time you have spent on it.
